What Is ADHD?

The intrinsic attention deficit problem known as ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactive disorder, is more frequent in children but can also affect adults.

If you struggle with sustained attention or find it difficult to maintain your concentration on a task for an extended period of time, you are likely an ADHD sufferer. ADHD sufferers are noted to be impulsive and energetic, acting without thinking. Additionally, they display procrastination, carelessness, and inattentiveness. If these symptoms are not addressed appropriately and promptly, it may lead to the development of secondary psychiatric illnesses such as substance misuse, anxiety, sadness, mood swings, and low self-esteem.

Although the exact cause of ADHD is unknown, it is thought that hereditary factors, neurobiological disorders brought on by chemical imbalances in the brain, and environmental factors like exposure to tobacco smoke, alcohol use, infectious diseases, and premature birth of children are all connected to its occurrence.

How widespread is ADHD?

ADHD is a serious mental health condition that affects children more frequently than adults. In terms of statistical comparison, 2-5% of adults are known to have ADHD, compared to 5-7% of children who experience it. Males are three times as likely than females to experience ADHD. 39 million people with ADHD in 2013, according to a WHO (World Health Organisation) survey.

What Treatment Options Are There For ADHD?

Although there is no conclusive medical evidence that ADHD can be cured, treatment options that combine medication and counselling can lessen daily difficulties and also improve symptoms. There are ADHD treatment options that can make a person feel less influenced by the disorder’s symptoms. These include drug therapy combined with behavioural management therapy.

There are many drugs that can be used as the only form of treatment, but therapy is most effective when combined with counselling, behaviour modification, and lifestyle changes. By altering the levels of certain neurotransmitters (chemicals) in the brain, the drugs used to treat ADHD work to reduce impulsivity, hyperactivity, and short attention spans while also improving the patient’s general health.

How is treatment carried out?

In terms of drugs, Adderall and Modafinil are two result-oriented treatments for ADHD that are part of our product line. Dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, serotonin, and other stimulant chemicals are released and activated in the brain when amphetamine, a CNS stimulant medicine, is taken, and this regulates mood swings associated with ADHD. Amphetamine and modafinil both have comparable functions. Additionally, the treatment plan for people with ADHD can benefit immensely from behavioural control by parents, teachers, peers, and coworkers. This includes a focus on special education and counselling.
